Kitchen Deep Cleaning Checklist for Central Florida Homes
Grease on the cabinet doors, a sticky film on the backsplash and crumbs hiding along the baseboards. Here is our kitchen deep cleaning checklist: what a full clean covers, what to add, and how to keep it clean in our humid climate.
A kitchen deep cleaning checklist starts where the daily wipe down stops: the grease film on cabinet fronts, the splatter behind the stove and the dust stuck to the edge of the floor under the toe kicks.
The kitchen is the room that works hardest in most homes we clean in Apopka, Ocoee, Winter Garden and across Orlando. Cooking oil travels farther than people think. It settles on cabinet doors, handles, the range hood and the top of the fridge, and then dust sticks to it. A quick spray and wipe moves it around. A deep clean takes it off.
Use the kitchen deep cleaning checklist below to plan your own deep clean, or to see exactly what our team does on a deep cleaning visit.
1 Why Florida Kitchens Get Grimy Faster
Humidity is part of life in Central Florida, and it changes how a kitchen gets dirty. Moist air keeps grease a little tacky, so it grabs dust and lint instead of drying out. Cabinet fronts near the stove feel sticky to the touch. Grout on the backsplash darkens. The area around the sink stays damp longer.
Crumbs are the other half of the story. Food bits under the toaster, behind the coffee maker or along the edge of the counter attract ants, and in a warm climate they find them fast. Wiping up crumbs, drying the sink at night and keeping food in sealed containers are simple habits that help. If you already have an active ant or pest problem, call a pest control company first. Our team cleans crumbs and residue, but we do not clean up pest droppings.
Quick humidity tip
Run the range hood fan while you cook and for a few minutes after. Less grease and steam in the air means less film on your cabinets and walls between cleanings.
2 The Kitchen Deep Cleaning Checklist, Area by Area
This is the order we work in, top to bottom, so nothing we clean gets dirty again from dust falling on it.
| Area | What gets cleaned | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Cabinet fronts | Doors, drawer fronts and handles degreased and wiped | Sticky film near the stove and around handles |
| Counters and backsplash | Counters deep-scrubbed, backsplash tile and grout lines scrubbed | Splatter behind the stove and the coffee maker |
| Range hood and stovetop | Outside of the hood, stovetop and knobs degreased | Grease on the hood edge and under the knobs |
| Appliance exteriors | Fridge, dishwasher, microwave and oven doors and handles wiped | Fingerprints and drips down the front |
| Sink and disposal area | Basin, faucet, drain area and the counter around the sink | Water spots and buildup at the faucet base |
| Floors and baseboards | Floor vacuumed and mopped, baseboards and edges detailed | Crumbs under toe kicks and along the walls |
| Inside oven (add-on) | Racks, walls and door glass, +$50 | Baked-on spills and smoke when you preheat |
| Inside fridge (add-on) | Shelves, drawers and door bins, +$50 | Sticky shelves and old spills under the drawers |
Everything above the two add-on rows is part of our standard deep clean, together with the rest of the house. See the full scope on our Deep Cleaning page.
3 Inside the Oven and Fridge: When to Add Them
We list these as add-ons because not every kitchen needs them every time. Here is how to decide.
Add the oven if
You see smoke when it preheats, there are spills on the floor of the oven or the door glass is cloudy.
Add the fridge if
Shelves feel sticky, something spilled under a drawer or you notice a smell when you open the door.
Before hosting
Guests open the fridge for drinks and see the oven while you cook. Adding both makes sense before a big meal.
Skip them for now if
You cleaned them recently. The outside of both appliances is already part of the deep clean.
Before a fridge clean, it helps to sort what stays and what goes. For guidance on how long leftovers and opened foods keep, FoodSafety.gov is a reliable reference from the federal government.
Most kitchens look clean from the doorway. The difference shows up when you run a hand along the cabinet door next to the stove. That is where we start.
Total Cleaning Services team
Want us to handle the kitchen deep cleaning checklist?
Tell us the size of your home and whether you want the oven or fridge added. We usually reply the same day with a clear price.
4 How to Prep Your Kitchen for a Deep Clean
Clear the counters
Put away mail, small appliances you do not use daily and anything fragile. The more counter we can see, the more we can scrub.
Handle the dishes
We do not hand-wash dishes. If the dishwasher is empty, we can load it with what is in the sink.
Empty the fridge if you added it
Toss expired food and move what stays into a cooler or onto one shelf so we can reach every surface.
Check within 24 hours
Run a hand along the cabinets and look behind the faucet. If anything was missed, send photos within 24 hours and we schedule a free re-clean within 5 business days.
5 Kitchen Deep Cleaning Checklist FAQ
How often should I deep clean my kitchen?
We recommend a deep clean when it has been two months or more since your last professional cleaning, on your first visit with us and before you host. After that, regular cleaning visits keep the kitchen in good shape.
Is cleaning inside the oven and fridge included?
They are add-ons at $50 each. The outside of every appliance is part of the standard deep clean.
Are your products safe around pets?
Yes, we use pet-friendly products. If you prefer your own products for the kitchen, leave them out and let us know.
Can you reach the top of tall cabinets?
Our team does not climb above a two-step stool, so very high surfaces may be out of reach. We clean everything we can safely reach. See more answers in our cleaning FAQs.
